Transitioning from Agency Work to Private Practice (3 Hour)

This training includes a guide to transitioning from the agency world to private practice world. It will cover requirements for licensure in Arizona.

This course is sponsored by Scottsdale Recovery Center in order to meet the requirements set forth in the Arizona Rules and Statutes for license renewal. While this course is designed with such regulations in mind, it is important to note that acceptance of CEUs is at the discretion of the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners.

Through lecture, discussion, and activities this training is designed to develop and strengthen clinicians’ knowledge of the process to transition from community mental health agency to private practice. This training includes common areas of transition focusing on clinical private practice in the state of Arizona. Considerations in ongoing trainings, professional development, structure, boundaries, and supervision/consultation will be discussed.

  1. Identify common areas of struggle when transitioning from agency work to private practice.

  3. Develop professional boundaries for private practice.
  4. Create support network including supervision and consultation.
  5. Develop skills for screening new clients, retaining clients, and discharging clients when appropriate.

Each clinician is responsible for completing the requirements in their place of practice and following any guidelines or requirements which may be provided to them by outside entities. This training is provided based on experience of clinicians in the area and field, and their experiences. It also includes example information based on personal experience. Clinicians may experience differences in requirements based on their area of specialty, demographics, and entity requirements.
